What is Watch D.O.G.S.?

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is the safe school initiative of the National Center for Fathering that involves fathers and father figures to help create a more safe and secure learning environment in our nation's schools. The goal of the program is to help every school in America be positively influenced by the committed involvement of fathers and father figures in lives of their children and students.

How the Program Works

Watch D.O.G.S., a K-12 program, invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer one day at their child’s school during the school year. This program is supported by the Seldens Landing PTA and is overseen by a “Top Dog” who partners with the school administrators to coordinate scheduling and identify opportunities for Watch D.O.G.S. to provide assistance at the school. Watch D.O.G.S. assist with a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including welcoming students at our Kiss and Ride line, reading to classes, tutoring small groups, helping students in the lunchroom, eating lunch, and enjoying recess with your child or children. The possibilities are endless!
