The SLES PTA plans several events and programs throughout the year to enrich the experience of our students, staff and our community!
ASAP After school program: A PTA volunteer-run program which offers after-school enrichment classes in three separate 6-week sessions each school year. The sessions are offered in Fall, Winter and Spring.
A Back to School Picnic: A fun social evening held soon after the beginning of the school year. All Seldens families are welcome to join. The PTA adds life to the party by arranging for a DJ and dessert. This is a casual evening to get to know your school staff and parents of other children in your child's class.
Fifth Grade Promotion: Various fundraising events and activities are planned through the year to support the end of year 5th grade celebration.
Math Olympiad: An ASAP (after school activities program) for students in grade 4-5 where students are invited to participate in 5 monthly individual contests to challenge their mathematical problem-solving.
Odyssey Of The Mind: Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.
Reflections Art Program: The PTA Reflections Program is designed to enhance a quality arts education by providing an opportunity for students to explore their artistic talents and receive positive recognition for their efforts.
School Supply Kits: The PTA works with School Tool Box to provide a hassle free parents to order school supplies that are delivered to the child's classroom by the Open House each school year.
Skate Night: The PTA plans a fun night of skating each year at the Ashburn Ice Rink.
Spooky Bingo: The PTA hosts a Halloween-themed fun-filled evening featuring bingo games, prizes and costumes.
Staff Appreciation: The PTA organizes activities to celebrate the hard work of all the school staff for Teacher Appreciation Week (May each year) and other celebrated special days.
Room Parents: Our Room Parent Coordinator supports all our room parent who facilitate communication between parents and the teacher, school administration and/or PTA and supports the teacher with class parties and other needs.
Teacher & Parent Support: TAPS is an initiative to encourage SLES teachers to provide “Hands-On” curriculum in the classroom by providing funding and volunteers to support them.
Wonderful Wednesdays: Wonderful Wednesdays are held once a month. It is a great opportunity to show our appreciation for our teachers by providing lunch for them with a variety of dishes and desserts.
School Gifts: The PTA has worked with artists to create murals at school, provides landscaping services and playground equipment.
School Sign: The school sign in front of the school is regularly updated with dates and events on the school and the PTA's calendars.
WATCH D.O.G.S: WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement, educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering.
Welcoming Committee: The Welcoming Committee ensures that families new to Seldens have all the resources and information needed to make the transition to SLES easy, informative and fun! The unknowns for a new family may range from how to buy Spirit Wear, School events or Volunteering. We are here to help you!
